My Mission

Being born and raised in the gospel of Jesus Christ, I was taught at a young age that when young men reach the age of 19, they were encouraged to serve a full-time mission. From sunbeams, through primary and my early youth, that was one of my main goals. To be honest, as I entered high school, my faith began to be shaken and my desire to serve a mission became less of a wanting. Not only was my desire to serve a mission shaken, but also my testimony as well.

It wasn't until I took a visit to Utah for a weekend and was able to be amongst a certain spirit that was there. A few months later, I moved there and started attending LDS Business College. I was able to be around the people that I needed at that time of my life and now that I look back on it, I am so grateful that I did. I started working on my mission papers not too long after and before I knew it, I was in the waiting process of receiving my call. Ayesha had gone back to Hawaii for Christmas break and I stayed back in Utah to work.

January 4th, 2012, I got a call from my Aunty Jacquelyn in the morning and she told me how she had a dream about me being called to Samoa. Keep in mind, that I still haven't received my call yet. I was shocked but didn't think too much of it. I called Ayesha to tell her about my Aunts dream and she told me how her good friend went into the MTC that day and he was going to Samoa as well. I didn't think too much about it and went to work. When I got home, to my surprise...my call was waiting for me!

I called everyone to let them know that I was going to wait to open it because I atleast wanted Ayesha to be there since I had no family and she wasn't going to come back til the following day. Ayesha flew in and we both went to get get a redbox movie, it was here that we bumped into a guy who asked what nationality we were and when we told him that we were Samoan, he busted out in Samoan and told us he served his mission there and he was so happy that I was going to be opening my call that night and he wished me luck that I would get where I wanted to go, which was Samoa.

That night, we skyped our families in Hawaii and California. It was such a great event. I began to read my call..

"Dear Elder Fitisemanu,
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Samoa Apia Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months.

You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Samoan language. Your assignment may be modified according to the needs of the mission president."

After reading that, I was in tears. Words cannot explain the overwhelming feeling that I got after that!
So there you have it everyone:) I can't believe that my Father in heaven has shown me so much signs leading up to this call, I truly believe that is His way of showing me that He is there for me and is constantly revealing things to me everyday.

If you, yourself, is contemplating going on a mission, please man up or woman up, and serve! I have experienced so much blessings since deciding to serve til this day and I want you to be a part of that too! I may not know you personally, or as well as I'd like to, but I promise you that our Father in Heaven loves you so much and thinks that you're to die for<3 Please go to Him whenever you feel the need! I love you all!
